After the ~1958 redesign and relaunch of the basic Lego brick, the Lego Town Plan Set was the centrepiece of the LEGO System range.

The small, very simple buildings were designed to sit on the spaces on the board, along with garages and garage accessories, trees and bushes, transparent car showroom modules, and of course, all the little 1:87 cars and lorries.

The new "window" and "roof" pieces were listed in the range by 1958, there were ranges of extension packs, and the wheel sets had arrived by 1964.

By this point, the "core" Lego range was complete.
