A rectangular lithographed tinplate Mazawattee Tea Alice in Wonderland tea caddy with scenes from Alice in Wonderland on its four sides and lid, thought to have been produced in the 1900s.

This exhibit is from the collection of Sarah Leather

The four sides of the tin each hold a single titled printed scene with a decorate dborder, styled as oil paintings:

  • "The White Rabbit"
  • "The Mad Tea-Party"
  • "The Story of the Mouse"
  • "The Whole Pack rose up into the Air"

The lid illustration is a cropped version of the tea-party scene, and the sides of the lid read the "MAZAWATEE TEA" in bold capitals.

The base of the tin carries the words, "Decorated and Manufactured at Mazawattee Works, New Cross, London, 1lb for 2/-"
