A boxed Betta Bilda Four Wheel Drive Unit, Betta Bilda Accessory number 19, manufactured by Airfix in the late 1960s.

The pack seems to be basically complete, but doesn't have the two spare tyres, and the accessory pack (number 11?), which has probably been separated out and is likely to be listed separately in the collection. The original (un-numbered) motor leaflet is present. The box has a slide-off sleeve, revealing a cardboard tray with folded, glued double-walled sides and ends with a ~1cm perimeter gap, to absorb shocks and prevent damage to the contents if the box is dropped or receives other rough treatment.

Colour

Although most of the packaging images that we've seen for the 4WD motor (including the box images and leaflet artwork) show the motor housing and battery box to be made of red plastic, and supplied with blue wheels with black tyres, this example is moulded in blue plastic, and has red wheels with black tyres.
