A brown Hornby Series Breakdown Van and Crane. The piece has a brown "No.1 Van"-style cabin with hinged door and a white roof, set on a blue No.2 base with blue buffers, black couplings, and two black four-wheel bogeys with black wheels. The rotating crane also attached to the base is brown.
Unlike the usual Hornby No.1 Van superstructure, the van also has a narrow brown curved-topped hinged door with doorhandle and window set into the end of the van, facing the crane. This detail is just visible on the 1928 catalogue illustration, if you look closely.
The piece is displayed with the crane to the left and the van to the right, revealing a white circle with red cross on the side of the van.
