1974

A silver ~1:32-scale model of the Apollo Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV), assembled from Dinky Kit number 1027, which was issued in 1974.

The model has independent four-wheel steering controlled by the central steering stick, and comes with two white plastic astronauts (missing).

Date

The kit version of the model was issued a couple of years after he original pre-built model.

Color

The kit version of the Rover was issued in silver, and came with a small container of paint to allow the user to paint the wheelguards orange. However, since the vehicle looked pretty decent in all-silver, a lot of buyers seem to have not bothered using the orange paint.

The existence of the kit version also encouraged owners to try out different colour schemes, as evidenced by the large number of colour variations showing up on the second-hand market.
