Green petrol tank wagon with cream wheels and the Castrol name printed in red on the tank. Colour and company variations were available, although the company titles were dropped for a generic transfer simply saying "Petrol" soon after post-war production resumed.
This particular version of the toy was made from 1935-46, but the toy model was available until 1950.
Castrol is a lubricant that The Wakefield Oil Company developed in the very early 1900s. The Castrol brand was introduced in 1909, referring to the use of castor oil as an ingredient. The company services a wide range of industries, including motorsports, shipping, passenger cars and heavy vehicles. Now owned by BP, the oil is still very widely used.
