A jointed wooden figure of "The Dodo" from from "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland", by Lewis Carroll

.

The figure was created in Lord Robert's Workshops, and is jointed to have moving arms and legs.

About the character

The Dodo is widely regarded to be a caricature of Carroll himself, with the other bird characters in the Caucus race representing people who went on a boating trip with Carroll. Alongside himself as the Dodo, and Alice standing in for Alice Liddell, the Eaglet and the Lory stand for Alice's two sisters Edith and Lorina Liddell, and the Duck for Reverend Duckworth.

Another similarity is that based on his stutter when Carroll used his actual name he would introduce himself as Charles Do-Dodgeson.

The Dodo plays a relatively minor part in the book, which is greatly increased in the Disney adaptation.
