Miller Swan and Co

Bernard Miller was a pioneer of handcrafted 7mm-scale finescale modelling, in which extreme measures were taken to create working models that spared no expense in the pursuit of extreme dimensional fidelity.

This was a very expensive and time-intensive process, only attempted by a very limited number of dedicated model engineers, such as Miller and Stanley Beeson.

Catalogue text

IT HAS BEEN OUR AIM to place before the Model maker a range of products in 7mm scale, all of which are of the very highest quality and of absolute accuracy and every article in this catalogue may be relied upon to be the very best obtainable. At the same time we have been able to keep our prices at a level, within the reach of all.

Among the lines which are of particular interest are the various white metal castings of axle guards, etc., locomotive fittings such as funnels, domes, safety valves, etc., black on white scale drawings with the maximum of detail and accuracy and a range of 36 cast iron wheels which are correct replicas of the original wheels, having the right number, thickness and profile of spokes, etc. These are supplied with treads to suit standard or scale track. We also make a speciality of painting, lining and lettering customers own models.

Our mechanism units and loco main frames provide the ideal way of building up easily accessible and amazingly powerful locomotives, while the use of our electrical methods for point and signal operation and for interlocking, ensures trouble free running and the closest approximation to real practice.
