Mercedes-Benz was born of the merger between German companies Daimler‑Motoren-Gesellschaft and Benz & Cie in 1926.

DMG was Gottleib Daimler's company, the inventor of what can be regarded as the first automobile. Benz were also a notable manufacturer, responsible for the Blitzen Benz that broke the land speed record by hitting an average speed of 126.0 mph over a kilometer in 1909.

The new luxury automobile brand combined DMG's Mercedes brand and the Benz name separately from the new company’s actual title, Daimler-Benz AG.

Mercedes-Benz currently produce a wide range of passenger and commercial vehicles, along with their motorsports presence currently named Mercedes GP.
