Card No. 13: The DE HAVILLAND "LEOPARD-MOTH" (Great Britain)

The need of an aeroplane for sporting or touring use and embodying the comforts of a saloon car naturally followed the growth of private flying. The popular "Leopard-Moth," designed for this purpose, is a light cabin monoplane with a cruising speed of 119 m.p.h., and seating accommodation for three people, the pilot in front and two passengers side by side behind. The first appearance of this machine coincided with its entry in the King's Cup Race in 1933, which it won, piloted by its designer, Captain Geoffrey deHavilland.
