A range of mechanical operating models ("Betriebsmodelle") made by Märklin in the 1930s. The production of this type of model was a toymaking tradition going back to the Nineteenth Century.

50cm Lineshaft for driving multiple models, 4383/50

The range included a variety of miniature machine tools (including pretty much any type of mechanical saw that one could imagine), some industrial machinery, and an assortment of "novelty" such as water-powered water wheels, running mountain streams, fountains and boating lakes. There was also a range of driveshafting to allow multiple models to be run from the same external source (such as an electric motor or steam engine).
