While we know that our younger visitors enjoy looking at the exhibits when they come during our normal opening hours, we are also aware that the amount of truly hands on and interactive things we have on display is limited and however good our quizzes and colouring activity sheets are they sometimes don’t go quite far enough to satisfy.
To engage with our younger audience we have been running, and will hopefully continue to run, monthly Play Days for Children aged 3 to 10. These take place usually on the 2nd Sunday of each Month but please check our Events listings for exact dates and to see when the next Play Day will be.
These days give children a chance to get to know the museum while at the same time provide exciting activities which would keep them amused for longer than a normal visit and gives parents a chance to relax, safe in the knowledge that the kids are being well looked after.
Each month we aim to give the day a different theme and so far these have included,
Alice in wonderland,
and of course, Dinosaurs which has been our most popular yet.
Arts and crafts activities vary each month but there are always some staples including face painting and our large wooden train set to get involved with.
If this sounds like something you may be interested in, details of our most recent Play days can be found on our ‘Events‘ page along with information about any upcoming dates and it’s always worth keeping an eye on the front page of this website or our Facebook page for announcements of future events.
