A cream-coloured Hornby "Racer III" clockwork racing boat No.3' with red trim and the name "Racer III" in gold, made by Meccano Ltd., Liverpool, in the mid-1930s.

HORNBY RACING BOAT NO.3, "RACER III", Price 14/6

" This is one of the finest examples of modern craftsmanship ever produced. It will travel over 300 feet at high speed on one winding. There are two cockpits, each of which is provided with a windscreen, and a dummy steering wheel is fitted in the forward one. The powerful clockwork motor is easily accessible for oiling by the removal of the hatch fitted with quick-release handles. "
