The GT40

The GT40 was a sweet racer that, in its mk2 configuration, started racking up wins for Ford at Le Mans in the latter 1960s. The story behind that car was that it was supposedly meant to be Ford's revenge against Ferrari for Ferrari's their pulling out of a takeover deal. Ford invested significant resources in producing a racecar that woudl (eventually) beat the Ferrari team's machines at Le Mans.
