Original file(503 × 603 pixels, file size: 63 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

A painting by M. Secretan of a special "Facsimile Flying Scotsman 1888" excursion from King's Cross station, consisting of Stirling Single locomotive No.1 hauling a train of six-wheel East Coast rolling stock that would have been typical of 1888.

This is a low-resolution scan of a decent-quality reproduction printed in The Railway Magazine No.499 (January 1939), as an insert on glossy paper, facing page 1 (after the frontage material). Biographical details of M. Secretan are difficult to come by (making copyright details difficult to track down), so we've reduced the scan to less than reproduction quality, keeping it just large enough for the artist's signature to be clearly legible. We'd have reduced the size further, but felt that the signature was important.
