Working pipes?

We've had a query via email about the source for believing that the pipes had become furred up. We can't currently recall the source.
And it might be out of date: the Mary Stewart Wilson book (1988, ISBN 0370311639, page 185) mentions a 1972 renovation, in which the wiring was found to be in bad condition and was replaced with new lights and 1.1km of fresh cabling, and the lift mechanisms were partly rebuilt and fitted with new motors, but "The plumbing and drainage pipes were all intact and in fairly good condition".
There will probably also have been earlier renovations and reviews (for instance, between the "Empire" exhibition and the "Ideal Home" exhibition, and between "Ideal Home" and installation at Windsor), during which corrective work might have been done, so we'll keep an eye open for any traceable mentions of pipe furring and qualify and/or rewrite the section at some point. Review and rewrite?

The whole category will need to be reviewed and probably rewritten – we now have access to a copy of the "big" contemporary limited-edition book of the dollhouse, with listings of who made everything, and this really needs to be read, digested, and partially put online ... the main obstacle to this being free time.
