Toy tractors were a popular toy in the Lego range before the arrival of the bricks, due to Denmark's emphasis on agriculture.

The company also produced a surprisingly serious range of other agricultural add-ons for the tractors, which becomes more explicable when one realises that when Lego were only selling toys within Denmark, many of the children receiving the toys would be living in fairly rural farming communities, and would have a good understanding of what these pieces of equipment did.
