Although Hornby and Märklin both produced sets of model railway Pullman coaches in green and cream, we're not entirely convinced that these railway carriages actually existed in real life. Searching Google in English reveals not much more than entries for model railways, and no obvious relevant links to real Pullman cars. In the Hornby 1925 and 1926 catalogues green and cream Pullmans only seemed to be an option for LNER sets.

Theories

LNER Tourist stock?
The LNER did use green and cream for their "tourist stock" - cheaper coaches meant for holidaymakers on a budget. But these trains wouldn't have included Pullman carriages. Some of these green and cream "tourist stock" carriages seem to have ended up being recycled as "camper carriages" – the equivalent of stationary caravan-park accommodation. The same colour scheme was also used for a while on the LNER's Sentinel steam railcars. Was there also an LNER green-and-cream buffet car?
It's possible that someone at Meccano Ltd may have seen the livery and (wrongly) thought it natural to put it on an LNER Pullman.
Belgium?
We've heard accounts of green and cream Pullmans in Belgium. Unconfirmed.
Fading?
It's been pointed out that with some brown paint formulations, the red has a tendency to fade out leaving the paint looking greenish. However, proper Pullman paint formulations didn't seem to be prone to this.

Märklin

Märklin also produced a green-and-cream 00-gauge Pullman carriage in 1937 – however, the company wouldn't have been expected to be as conversant with the intricacies of British railway liveries (or as accurate) ... and maybe they based the existence of the colour scheme on the existence of the 1920s Hornby carriages. Or maybe they just liked the colours.
