MERCO of Dundee was founded by noted railway modellers Edward Beal and Sir Eric Hutchison, and produced lithographed paper patterns (of brick walls, pavements, stone walls and so on), to enable railway modellers to construct their own realistic-looking buildings and scenery.

THE MERCO WAGON SYSTEM

THIS popular system of OO-Gauge wagon construction is now very well known. It was inaugurated at the writer's suggestion and with the aid of his designs many years ago, and has been perfected and greatly developed since that time. The scheme is that if a built-up body of plywood for open wagons and solid wood for vans, the outer sides being covered with lithographed papers, the roofs with a thin card capping.

Wagons are sold in complete sets of parts to suit these papers as designed by the writer. The parts include thin plywood sides and base, buffers, metal underframe and wheels, and brake parts can now be had at a slightly extra cost.
