The Berbis wooden construction system was described as using interlocking building blocks, but it's probably more accurate to describe is as having interlocking wooden slats.

The core system consists of rectangular strips of wood with pairs of opposing rectangular notches that each cut one quarter of the way into the strip ... the result being that one can interlock the notches in strips set at 90 degrees and build up rectangular cross-section systems of walls, much as you would when making a log cabin.

Berbis was ideal for making largish wooden buildings (as long as one didn't mind the jutting pieces at the wall corners), but it also had axles and wheels for those wanting to make simple wheeled toy carts and trollies.
