A handpuppet of "The Constable", or "The Beadle", from Punch and Judy.
The puppet dates from circa 1890.
The Constable wears a dark red frock coat and trousers and a black hat with yellow trim across its curved horizontal edge, and he carries a staff with a knobbed end.
