An assembled miniature card "Micromodels" model of the 1825 0-4-0 Locomotion No.1 steam locomotive built by Robert Stephenson and Company.

The model was part of the three-locomotive set, H.1. Famous Historic Locos, which included Puffing Billy, Rocket and Locomotion, and sold for 2'6.

About the original locomotive

Locomotion No .1 was originally called Active, and was the first locomotive to work on the Stockton and Darlington Railway.

Due to the speed at which early locomotive construction identified and fixed problems, by the time of the Rainhill Trials in 1829, George Stephenson's improved Rocket design had already made the "Locomotion" design obsolete.

Locomotion No.1 is currently on loan to Darlington Railway Museum from the National Railway Museum.
