Whitehawk Childrens' Centre opening event
Sept 28th, 2006, 3pm - 7pm

The Museum and its Education Team join eb4U, the Mayor and
the residents of Whitehawk in celebrating the completion of THE
WHITEHAWK CHILDREN'S CENTRE. Museum staff are present to
provide a hands-on toy demonstration for visitors during the opening.

october 2006

'Making History Fun' - Launch event

The Museum kicks off a year-long programme of events and special
exhibits in the company of the Brighton and Hove Mayor.

'The Family Theatre' - Launch of a special new exhibit

A display of hand-painted sets, scripts, catalogues and memorabilia
relating to a family which presented juvenile drama plays at home
during the late 1950s-early 1960s.

'The Joy of Little People' - Launch of a special new exhibit

This display of hand-cast figures features characters ranging from
soldiers and royalty to people waiting for buses and serving food.

november 2006

'Time for Change' - Museum train running event
Saturday November 25th

A special train-running event intended to reflect that period when
the railways were grouped in 1923.
Members of the Train Collectors'
Society will be in the Museum running their own trains in addition to
all of our own vintage trains, making it a memorable event
for visitors of all ages.

'Falmer's Toy Story'
Tuesday November 28th - January 9th, 2007

Launch of a special exhibition of artwork planned and produced
by GCSE art students at Falmer High School. The exhibit follows
a period of close collaboration between the Museum and the students.
The joint project is part of the national 'Big Draw' project.

An evening of singing and instrumental talent and fun, superbly led
by Roy Nash and Noel Dumbrell, complemented by a full licensed bar
and guests in full Victorian costume!

Smugglers' Week

Two daily live performances at 12 noon and 3pm


Tales of smuggling days from an old smuggler. See him in his prison
cell as he awaits transportation to the colonies.
