A green 0-4-4 clockwork gauge 1 model of London and South Western Railway M7-Class tank locomotive number 109, made by Bing for Bassett Lowke in 1909.
The locomotive's livery consists of a set of light sage green panels edged in purple-brown.
The model will be added to the museum's public displays in September 2015.
The original locomotive
One hundred and five of the LSWR M7 locomotive class were built between 1897 and 1911, in a number of batches (leading to a number of variations between batches).
The locomotives were designed by Dugald Drummond to be sturdy, strong and durable, and given that some M7 locomotives survived through the transition to British Rail, and were still being used in the early 1960's, they seem to have met this last criterion rather well. At the time of their introduction the locos were the heaviest 0-4-4's on the network, and their weight meant that they were eventually deemed unsuitable for higher-speed passenger work due to worries about stability.
The miscellaneous duties carried out by the M7s included running trains on the London Necropolis Railway.
