Highlights

Frank Hornby Train Running Day - (Saturday 11th May)
A train running event using the Museum's 1930s layout to show off some of the greatest trains that Hornby's company ever made.
Guided Tours
From Tuesday 14th to Saturday 18th, the Museum will be giving two Frank-Hornby-themed guided Museum tours each day (one morning and one evening). These tours will be included in the standard admission price (thanks to the Heritage Lottery Fund).
Community 150th Birthday Party - (Wednesday 15th May)
The evening of May 15th is set aside for a special invite-only party for members of the Hornby, Dinky and Meccano communities to meet up with each other (and with the media), to celebrate the birthday. Drinks, nibbles and photo opportunities (cake-cutting, etc).
Frank Hornby Night ("Museums at Night") - (Friday 17th May)
The Museum will also be open on Friday evening as part of the Museums at Night initiative, with a Frank Hornby theme and a talk by Chris Littledale on the legacy of Frank Hornby.
Frank Hornby Week - Children's Play Day - (Sunday 19th May)
Sunday 19th (when the Museum would normally be closed) will be a Museum "Sunday Fun-Day", a supervised Active Play Day for children to allow them to play with plastic Meccano, wooden trains, vehicles and track, and take part in colouring-in and object hunt activities.

Notes

We normally reserve Mondays for large school visits or for Museum maintenance work. We do not currently intend to be open on the Monday, but this is open to review.

Events and guided tours from Tuesday 14th to Sunday 19th are supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and there is no charge for any of these events other than the standard Museum admission prices.
