SIMEC, the Stuart Turner Model Engineers Club, was founded in 1971, and became an important resource for owners of Stuart engines. Initially bi-monthly, its newsletter switched in 1974 to a quarterly magazine.

THERE are so many Model Steam engine enthusiasts around the world that we thought it would be a good idea to give them a focal point for discussion and interchange of news and views. To this end we launched the Stuart International Model Engineering Club towards the end of last year. Brief details will be found at the end of this catalogue.

THE CLUB, sponsored by this firm, aims to foster interest in and to spread knowledge of, Model Steam Engines. This it will do in the first instance by the interchange of experience between members, by advice to beginners and through the medium of a bi-monthly News-Letter. It is envisaged that with the growth of membership, meetings, exhibitions and competitions will be held and perhaps visits or excursions arranged to places of interest.

Membership is international and open., to all individuals who take an active interest in Model Steam Engines and more specifically Stuart models It 4-hoped. that members will, as chance allows, welcome visitors from overseas to discuss their mutual interest in an absorbing and very worthwhile hobby and this will, of course, not be a one-way traffic.

The Club aims to be self-supporting but we, as sponsors, are making an annual grant for three years. The annual subscription fixed by the Club Committee for the first year is £2.00 sterling.

All paid-up members receive the News-Letter free-of-charge, except that where overseas members request its being sent by airmail they will be billed for the additional cost.

The affairs of the Club are run by a Committee of six consisting of (a) Chairman or President appointed annually, (b) Secretary, (paid) appointed by Stuart Turner Ltd., (c) two members appointed annually by vote of members, (d) one member appointed annually by Stuart Turner Ltd., (e) an Honorary Treasurer appointed by Stuart Turner Ltd.
