The Progress of Transport by Water was a lecture given by W.J. Bassett-Lowke in the 1930s, which was also published in various formats. It appeared in the Port of London Authority's "PLA Monthly" publication circa ~1938 (17 pp.), and was reprinted by Bassett-Lowke Ltd in 1949, supplemented by a second section with the company's catalogue of waterline ship models.

Preface, 1949

This booklet includes the text of a talk prepared by Mr. W.J. Bassett-Lowke for addresses to Rotary Clubs and small discussion circles. When delivering his talk, Mr. Bassett-Lowke uses for demonstration purposes a set of handmade, waterline ship models, to a scale of 1/1200 actual size. It is these models that are shown in the illustrations for the following pages.

The second portion of the booklet is our standard catalogue of waterline ship models.
