A painted hollowcast lead Indian Elephant, from the Britains Zoo range, probably pre-war, catalogue number 901.

1940 catalogue description

" Elephants are found to-day only in India and Africa and are the largest of living mammals. They reach a high degree of intelligence when trained, and on account of their enormous size and strength are utilised for many heavy tasks. The food of the elephant consists of leaves, grass, fruit, etc. "
