Meccano Ltd.'s promotional efforts didn't just include running clubs and publishing a magazine, they could also supply special promotional shop models to retailers, who could order them from a dedicated catalogue.

These models were typically motorised and/or fitted with flashing or cycling lights, and tended to be mounted on a solid plinth. Motors were usually mains powered, and models that didn't have sufficient height on their own to be really imposing (or easily visible when put on top of a high cabinet) sat on a further stand built on top of the plinth, also made of Meccano, with high-visibility MECCANO signage on the sides.
