Labelling

The geographical island of "Ireland" was partitioned into "Northern Ireland" ("NI") and "The Republic or Ireland" ("Eire") in the early 1920s as a result of the Government of Ireland Act 1920 and other events, with Northern Ireland continuing to be part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the remainder becoming an independent country.

As a result, toys made in Belfast before partition might be marked "Made in Ireland", while toys made in the same region after partition would tend to be said to be "Made in Northern Ireland" or "Made in the the UK", with "Ireland" tending to refer to the South.
