Chiltern Toys

1924 -

Chiltern Toys was part of the small network of toy brands created in the UK by expatriate German toymaker Joseph Eisenmann and his son-in-law Phillip Rees. The Chiltern brand was used from 1924 on a successful range of bears (especially the "Hugmee" bear), with production moved between a number of locations over the years, including the Amersham Works in the Chiltern Hills region (but latterly in London).

In the 1960s Chiltern Toys ended up becoming part of Chad Valley (after briefly being part of Dunbee Combex), and Chad Valley continued making the popular bears with "Chad Valley Chiltern" branding.
